OUR STORY

Gathering for family reunions has been a long standing tradition dating back 50 years.  After the death of their mother in 1967, the Bugg children (at the suggestion of Welton), decided to get together every two years to ensure they remained close as a family which included more than 35 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The first official reunion was in 1969 at the family’s homestead in Pine Mountain.  Other early reunions were held in the homes of the Bugg siblings in New York and Georgia.  As the family grew, the venues changed to hotels and banquet halls in those states in addition to Massachusetts. Throughout the years, we have experienced many memorable moments including visits to amusement and water parks, cruises on the Hudson River and more.

As with any large extended family, we have lost many loved ones but also joyfully seen the family get even larger. This is why continuing the long standing tradition of our reunions is more important than ever.  Participation has waned over the years as our lives have become busier but we need to ensure that we continue this tradition or we risk losing the intended purpose of the occasion which is to stay connected as a family.
